Change a child’s life. Change yours.
Children of Promise, Foster Grandparent Program connects caring Eastern Iowans over age 55 with children in need of positive mentoring across Johnson, Jones, and Linn Counties. Our Foster Grandparents serve in schools, day cares, and community centers, helping kids with classroom subjects like reading and math. The guidance of a Foster Grandparent can boost a child’s self-esteem, improve their social skills, and remind struggling youth that a brighter future is in store.
Many Foster Grandparents soar with a renewed sense of purpose, and take great pride in the accomplishments of the children they serve. In addition to personal fulfillment, many find the tax-free reimbursement for serving to be very helpful with life’s expenses. These dollars should not affect any existing benefits.
“This program has made a huge impact on my life. It gives my life meaning and gives me a reason to get out of bed in the morning. I look forward to going to the site and hearing, ‘I love you Grandma!’ It makes it all worthwhile!” - Grandma Effie, Children of Promise Foster Grandparent
